Ever wondered how much self-tanner typically costs? Although you could easily just search around the web, I wanted to put the information in one concise easy-to-find location for you, with a bunch of examples.
Typically self-tanner costs an average of around $10 per bottle. Self-tanner prices range from around $6.00 per bottle to around $100 for extremely premium brands. The most popular self-tanners cost around $20-30 for an 8 oz bottle.
Alright, now that we have a general idea of the price range of sunless tanners, let’s look at a bunch of examples.
How Much Is Self Tanner?
Alright, so I’m going to organize these sunless tanners by price from low to high. Please note that these prices are approximate, as prices of products change so frequently in today’s market.
Self-Tanners
These are entry-level self-tanners that are great to start with. Most of these can be found at your local drug store, grocery store, or supermarket. These are perfect to start with if you’re new to self-tanning, or you have a low budget.
Banana Boat Light Medium Self Tanning Lotion – Approx. $6.00
This is an extremely popular entry-level self-tanning lotion that you can pick up at just about any grocery or drug store.
Offering a light color and lotion texture, it’s easy to apply and easy to get the color you’re looking for.
Although it doesn’t have the quality of a much higher-priced item, it’s a great place to start.
If you’re interested in trying it, you can also get it on Amazon.
Suave Visible Glow Self Tanning Lotion – Approx. $8.00
A fairly good low priced sunless tanner that many people like. Suave is known for being a value brand, and this bargain self-tanner can be found at most grocery and drug stores.
It’s certainly not my favorite, but a good representation of a bargain self-tanner that you can use for a while.
If you’re interested in checking it out you can pick it up here.
Anjou Organic Natural Tanning Lotion – Approx. $9.00
Another fairly popular entry-level self-tanning lotion that you’ll mostly find online, Anjou is great for people new to tanning.
It’s one of the more inexpensive natural sunless tanners on the market, so go ahead and give it a try!
You can pick it up on Amazon right here.
Jergens Natural Glow Sunless Tanning Mouse – Approx. $10.00
Jergens is a huge player in the beauty industry, and they certainly don’t shy away from the self-tanning market.
This is one of their entry-level self-tanners that is priced very affordably. It’s a tinted mouse, so it will have a guide color to help you see where you’ve applied it, and because it’s a mousse, it will dry quite quickly.
You’ll probably be able to find this at a store near you, or you can pick it up online.
Fake Bake Flawless Darker Self Tanning Lotion – Approx. $14.00
Fake Bake is a company that has been huge in the sunless tanning market since the beginning.
Just as Kleenex is synonymous with facial tissue, Fake Bake is synonymous with quality sunless tanners. Most of their products fall in the low-mid range price range but are extremely great value.
They have quite a few products that you can pick up on Amazon.
Miami Gorgeous Instant Self Tanning Mousse – Approx. $18.00
Miami Gorgeous self-tanner is extremely popular and well-reviewed online and falls into the mid-low price range.
It’s a good value for the price, but it won’t be quite the quality you should expect from some of the self-tanners farther down the list.
However, many people absolutely love this stuff and swear by it, so feel free to give it a try.
Skinerals Organic Sunless Tanning Bronzer – Approx. $20.00
Skinerals is a monster in the sunless tanning industry. You’ll probably find this exact self-tanner on most websites top self-tanners of 2018 list (including my own buyer’s guide).
This product is all natural and extremely high quality for the price. You really can’t go wrong with a Skinerals sunless tanner.
If you want to try some you can pick it up here.
Expensive Self Tanners
Now we’re going to get into the bit higher priced self-tanners. I personally don’t think these are unreasonably expensive, in fact this is the price range that I suggest most people look at. I often recommend St. Tropez Self Tanning Mousse because I absolutely love it and it falls into this category.
However, many people would consider these expensive self-tanners, so I wanted to seperate the categories.
Bahama Tan Medium Tint Organic Self Tanning Lotion – Approx. $25.00
Another extremely popular fake tan brand that you can pretty much only find online, Bahama Tan is very well liked and reviewed. It’s another fairly affordable organic self-tanner that most people get extremely good results from. It’s a medium color so it should work for most people.
If you’re interested in trying it you can pick it up here.
Beauty By Earth Organic Self Tanner – Approx. $27.00
You’ll find this on just about every top list of self-tanners online. This stuff is absolutely fantastic and deserves all the praise it gets. I would say with this bottle we’re starting to get into the more mid-high price range for self-tanners, which if you can afford it, is where most products I recommend fall.
This one by Beauty By Earth and the next one by St. Tropez are two of my absolute favorite self-tanners at any price.
If you want to give this stuff a try you can pick it up here.
St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse – Approx. $29.00
Ok, I talk about this product plenty in other articles so I won’t go into it too deep. However, I think St. Tropez makes some of the highest quality self-tanners on the market, and you should certainly give it a try.
I think around the $25.00 – $35.00 price range for self-tanners is really the sweet spot for self-tanners. There are certainly cheaper products and more expensive products, but I think this is where most people should try to live for their self-tanners.
If you want to try it out you can get it here.
Vita Liberata Organic Self Tanning Mousse – Approx. $45.00
Now we’re getting into the higher priced self-tanning lotions and mousses with Vita Liberata.
They make a fairly wide variety of self-tanners that are a bit more expensive but are very high quality. I personally don’t believe they’re worth 50% more than something like St. Tropez or Beuty By Earth or some of the other mid-price self-tanners out there.
However, some people absolutely love this stuff, so if you want to try it you can get some here.
Final Thoughts On How Much Self Tanner Costs
Ultimately self-tanner costs a far variety of prices, from around $6.00 to $50.00 or more. I personally find that the best value is the moderately priced fake tan products around the $30.00 range.
I hope this article helped you understand better the cost of these products, if so, or if not, let me know in the comments below!
